I hope you get a chance to see the Sunday, September 27, 2026, edition of Daily Cosmic Highlights. I think the revised version is much improved. I have added timing for different time zones, along with several new features. I wrote the original material myself and then used AI writing assistants to help with grammar, organization, formatting, and presentation.
I have also been teaching and monitoring my new AI receptionist. I especially appreciate the way it helps handle routine inquiries, booking requests, quotations, and unsolicited calls and messages.
Astrology, Technology, and Four Decades of Change
One thing that surprised me recently was discovering that my article, “Your Scout Planet,” appears in AI-assisted searches. After spending decades researching, writing, teaching, and interpreting charts, it is gratifying to see ideas I developed years ago continuing to find new audiences in the digital age.
My relationship with technology began long before artificial intelligence entered the conversation.
By the mid-1980s, I was already deeply involved in astrology, studying charts, reading every astrology book I could find, and learning from some of the finest teachers available to me. Like many astrologers of that era, I relied heavily on books, ephemerides, calculators, handwritten notes, and hours of manual work.
Around 1986, I purchased my first personal computer. It was the first machine I felt I could realistically afford, and I bought it at Toronto’s legendary Honest Ed’s.
For people who remember it, Honest Ed’s was far more than a discount store. Founded by Ed Mirvish, it became a Toronto landmark known for its enormous illuminated sign, hand-painted bargain signs, crowded aisles, theatrical personality, and unforgettable shopping experience. Buying my first computer there made the beginning of my digital journey feel distinctly connected to Toronto history.
That purchase changed the way I practised astrology. The computer used GEM, one of the early graphical desktop environments available before Microsoft Windows became the dominant standard. By today’s standards it was limited, but in 1986 it felt revolutionary.
Not long afterward, I invested in Blue*Star, a professional astrology software system from Matrix Software. I remember paying approximately $599, a considerable investment at the time, and receiving the program on a large collection of floppy disks. I remember the shipment as containing as many as 38 disks, although the exact price and disk count are personal recollections that I have not independently documented.
The price also included numerous interpretive reports that might otherwise have been optional additions. Many were written by respected astrologers whose books, methods, and teachings I had already studied. Those reports gave me another opportunity to examine how established astrologers organized their knowledge, approached chart interpretation, and communicated complex ideas to clients.
The reports never replaced serious study, personal judgment, or direct work with clients. Instead, they became another part of my education and professional toolkit.
My Current View of AI and Astrology
While many people remain wary of artificial intelligence, my experience has been largely positive. I have found that AI allows me to offer my clients much more while also improving the clarity and presentation of my work.
I use it to help format documents, improve grammar and organization, manage bookings, answer routine questions, prepare quotations, and respond to everyday requests. By reducing the time spent on repetitive administrative work, it allows me to focus more fully on my clients, their questions, and the deeper analysis of their charts.
AI does not replace my experience, professional judgment, or responsibility for the final work. I review and refine what it produces, just as I evaluated the reports and computer-generated material available to me in earlier decades.
Looking back, the path from handwritten calculations and printed ephemerides, to early desktop computers and Blue*Star, and now to AI-assisted astrology feels like a natural progression. The tools have changed dramatically, but the purpose has remained the same: to study carefully, recognize meaningful patterns, communicate clearly, and serve clients responsibly.
I would love to hear what readers think. Have you welcomed AI, avoided it, or are you still deciding where it belongs in your life and work? The conversation about astrology and artificial intelligence is only beginning.
Experience the Difference for Yourself
Every new tool I have adopted has helped me ask better questions, organize more information, and explore deeper layers of meaning within a chart. But the most important ingredient has never been the technology. It is the combination of experience, intuition, research, professional judgment, and genuine human conversation.
If you would like to experience this in-depth approach, I invite you to book a session and select the Deep Analysis option.
The Deep Analysis option is intended for clients who want a more detailed exploration of the patterns, strengths, challenges, timing cycles, and life themes reflected in their charts.
